GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (NEWS10) – Hundreds of grieving officers and community members came to remember Great Barrington Police Officer Ryan Storti.
Last week, Storti, 25, died after he crashed his truck into a tree on Prospect Hill Road in Stockbridge. Storti was not on duty at the time of the crash.
Services were held Friday at the First Congregational Church.
“My brother Gary, this is his 25-year-old son today, which is a shame, a pity,” Karen Storti-Gothier, Ryan’s Aunt, said.
Storti’s aunt says he was outgoing and a caring person. He showed how much he loved his close knit family. He even took after his father and uncles by choosing some of the same hobbies.
“Ryan is the Italian deer hunter now. He loved his guns, he loved his hunting. A close knit family you know, there’s no words for it.”
Karen says her nephew took great pride in being a community policeman. She says the fact that he is gone is a hard reality for their family to accept.
“I don’t even want to talk about it okay. You know what I am saying.”
Ryan’s fellow officers and his family are still trying to figure out what happened last week. After Friday’s funeral, the family says they can now begin to heal.
