NEW YORK (NEWS10) – Dean Skelos’ nephew is accused of throwing a Daily News reporter’s cell phone following his sentencing.
Basil Skelos was arrested by the 5th precinct on assault charges. He was released on an appearance ticket. Police say the phone was not damaged, and there was no visible wound on the reporter’s wrist.
NEWS10’s Ayla Ferrone says after leaving the courthouse, there was a scuffle as Dean Skelos got in his car.
Both Dean and Adam Skelos were sentenced for corruption in New York City on Thursday.
Dean Skelos sentenced to five years in prison for corruption. He must also pay a $500,000 fine.
Adam Skelos, Dean Skelos’ son, was sentenced to 6 1/2 years. He was also ordered to get alcohol counseling. A judge did not impose a fine for Adam.
