Court Documents: Little League coach facing child porn charges asked girls to shower on Skype

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A judge will allow a Cohoes little league coach, accused of possessing child pornography, to be released.

During an appearance in federal court on Monday, a judge allowed 34-year-old George Muzio Jr. to be released on a “stringent list of conditions” and $15,000 bail. Some of those conditions include not having unsupervised contact with minors, including his two children. He will be on electronic monitoring.

He will stay at a different residence than his Central Avenue home in Cohoes where he lived with his parents, wife and children. He will also remain in custody until a judge decides a location is suitable.

“He’s going to live a pretty Spartan experience,” his attorney Lee Kindlon said. “He’s going to live in a house not near any parks, playgrounds, things like that, just to make sure that everybody is comfortable with his release.”

Investigators from Homeland Security executed a search warrant at Muzio Jr.’s Cohoes home on May 3 after an investigation that lasted several months. A federal criminal complaint states investigators found over 100 child pornography videos on his computer.

He resigned from his position with the little league on May 4, according to the city of Cohoes.

Police said none of the victims depicted in the videos appear to have known Muzio Jr. personally. But prosecutors aren’t convinced there are no local victims.

New details unveiled in court claim in 2012, Muzio Jr. knowingly had inappropriate Skype conversations with 14 and 15 year old girls by asking them to take pictures of themselves in the shower.

But the defense counters no victims have come forward since his arrest with similar allegations.

“There’s a giant difference between allegations of wrongdoing and real facts to back them up,” Kindlon said. “Right now, we’re still waiting to see if there are any real facts to back that up.”

It could be a few days before Muzio Jr. is released. In court, prosecutors said they are looking into more charges.

The charges he is currently facing carry a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
