CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A group of eight seniors took center stage in a signing ceremony Monday afternoon.
The Plainsmen will all continue their athletic careers at either the Division I or Division II level in college. Their commitments were celebrated on Monday.
The signees include four swimmers, two runners, one thrower, and one lacrosse player. Half will stay in New York, but Emily Crounse and Dakota Rainville will head down south to the Carolinas.
“Well, I was just looking for a school that would be a good fit for me,” Rainville said. “I hate cold weather, so that was a huge thing. Getting down south, it will be warm, especially during the season. Lacrosse is a January sport down there, so it will be nice to stay warm.”
“I don’t really like snow, so I wanted to get somewhere warmer, and it’s going to be 90 degrees there this week, which is pretty awesome,” Crounse said.
But it wasn’t just college commitments that were celebrated. Mike Jeffers, who’s headed to UConn, picked part of the ceremony for a promposal. She said yes.
