It is the first time in program history that the UAlbany men’s lacrosse team has earned an at-large into the NCAA Tournament.  The team is just the second program in UAlbany history to earn a DI NCAA Tournament at-large berth, with the women’s lacrosse team picking up one in 2015.  In addition, UAlbany is the first America East men’s lacrosse team to earn an at-large since UMBC did in 2007.

The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU live from Syracuse.

UAlbany will play in its fourth consecutive and eighth overall NCAA Tournament in the DI era, all under head coach Scott Marr.

“It’s awesome, there is no better feeling, when we are waiting for an at-large bid, to see your name pop up on that screen,” said Marr.  “It is a relief after last week’s unfortunate loss in the [America East] semifinals.”

The team gathered in the SEFCU Arena Hall of Fame room to watch the ESPNU Selection Show.

UAlbany and Syracuse will play for a chance to advance to the quarterfinal round.  This matchup is part of the Providence region, with Brown hosting the quarterfinals.  The winner of UAlbany-Syracuse takes on the victor of Maryland vs. Hartford/Quinnipiac on Saturday, May 21st.
