Fire officials responding to structure fire near Stuyvesant Plaza

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Fire officials responded to a structure fire on Elm Street in Mckownville, near Stuyvesant Plaza. Multiple agencies were on the scene.

Firefighters said when they arrived to the house, they saw a lot of smoke and flames coming from the attic.

According to the Fire Chief, the fire started in an upstairs bathroom then spread to the attic above.

“The initial report was made very quickly and accurately by the Chief of North Bethlehem who showed up and saw a volume of smoke coming from the roof of the house,” said McKownville Fire Chief Russ Becker.

Becker said nobody was home at the time of the fire.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
