Queensbury man accused of setting home on fire where he used to live

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officials say they’ve arrested a Queensbury man accused of arson.

Police say on Sunday the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a residence was on fire at 162 Elmhurst Drive, Homestead Village. Responding officers encountered neighborhood residents who described seeing a person walking away from the residence shortly before the fire was reported.

Following a series of interviews, patrol officers located the suspect who later admitted to starting the fire out of frustration with the condition of the residence as well as damage to his belongings at the hands of another resident.

The suspect had previously resided at the home and some of his personal property had been left inside.

Police say 46-year-old Michael Dixon of Queensbury was charged with Arson in the third degree.

Dixon was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility with no bail.
