WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS10) — President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama’s eldest daughter will attend Harvard University.

The White House announced Sunday Malia Obama will begin there in the fall of 2017, after taking a gap year.

She will be a member of the Harvard class of 2021.

President Obama said at the White House correspondents’ dinner Saturday that his family plans to stay in Washington for two years after his presidency ends.

That is so their youngest daughter, Sasha, can finish high school.

Malia will be 18-years-old in July and Sasha will be 15 in June.
