Wilton man arrested, charged for assault and robbery after a dispute over rental property

QUEENSBURY, NY (NEWS10)  – On Sunday at around 12:30 p.m., members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the parking lot of a restaurant on Upper Glen St. in the town of Queensbury regarding an altercation between two individuals.

An investigation revealed that a civil agreement regarding a rental property between the two individuals ended with one of the parties assaulting and then forcibly stealing money from the other individual.

A sheriff’s patrol located the suspect, 41-year-old Aaron Smith of Wilton, nearby after the he fled the scene and was then taken into custody without incident.

Smith was charged with a class D felony of Robbery in the third degree and class A Misdemeanor of Assault in the third degree.

Smith was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.

Smith is scheduled back in court at a later date.
