HALFMOON, NY (NEWS10) – On April 26, Troopers from the Northway Station arrested 34-year-old April Fernet for allegedly driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and Aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle.
At around 10:15 p.m., Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on SR-9 in the Town of Halfmoon after seeing the vehicle commit multiple traffic violations.
Upon interviewing Fernet, several indicators of impairment were detected. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were given and Fernet was placed under arrest for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle
At the time of the incident, there were four children in the vehicle who were all under the age of 16.
Fernet was taken back to the station where she was evaluated by a State Police Drug recognition Expert, who confirmed that she was impaired.
Fernet was processed and then later released to a sober third-party to appear in court at a later date.
