COHOES, NY (NEWS10) – On a rainy gray day, people in Cohoes packed into the Waterford Elks Lodge to help more than 20 victims of a fire.
“We needed to do something for these families immediately,” said Regina Hogan, who is a past exalted ruler of the Waterford Elks Lodge.
When Regina saw the flames burning on Main St., she knew she had to help the people who lost everything.
“We put this together in two weeks. It’s a hot dog roaster,” said Hogan.
There was help in the form of hot dogs, raffles, and hopefully a lot of money.
“It feels pretty good. We can see the community has come together and taken these families by the hand and reconstructing their lives,” said Hogan.
All the money will be split between the six families affected by the fire.
“Heart breaking, heart breaking. It’s sad to see all their valuables are gone,” said organizer Brian Bott.
You have the week ahead to donate. The check will be presented to all the families sometime next week.
