COEYMANS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The investigation into the death of a woman whose remains were found in Coeymans is intensifying.

Coeymans police and the New York State Police continue to follow every lead involving the death of Shelby Countermine. Her remains were found near the Albany Water Department in Coeymans Hollow on May 14, 2015.

Edward Mero, who was an Albany Water Department employee at the time, is a person of interest in her disappearance. Police said he was the last person to have contact with Countermine when she was last seen in December 2014.

Law enforcement sources told NEWS10 ABC investigators are now working with the Albany Police Department because Mero was the roommate of a girl who died in an Albany fire on Arcadia Avenue in 2013.

That case is still being investigated.

Wednesday is Countermine’s birthday. She would have turned 25.
