SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Kayla Treanor scored five points and became Syracuse’s all-time leader in goals in the No. 4 Orange’s 13-10 victory against No. 8 Louisville on Saturday. With the win, the Orange claim the second seed in the ACC Tournament next week at Virginia Tech, finishing the year with a 5-2 league record.
Treanor scored Syracuse’s first goal to tie Christina Dove ’10 for the top spot on the Orange’s all-time record list with 250 goals. She appeared to have broken the record when she found the back of the net on a free position with one second on the clock in the first half. But the officials ruled that time had expired before the ball crossed the goal line after both teams had gone to the locker room. Her second official goal of the day came at the 7:30 mark of the second half, giving her sole possession of first place on Syracuse’s record list and 11th place on the NCAA Division I all-time leader list.
“I just feel really lucky to have been able to play here with and play with such good players,” Treanor said after her record-breaking performance. “There are a lot of people before me who set the path. Without my teammates, I would have never had these opportunities. Without playing on such good teams, you don’t get as many opportunities as I’ve been so fortunate to have.”
