SELKIRK, NY (NEWS10) – One person was hospitalized after their car went off the road and into a creek.
Police said they received the call around 12:20 a.m. Saturday from a neighbor who saw the car go into the water in Selkirk. They said the person in the car was yelling for help.
Officials said that when they got there, water was up over the windshield. They were able to get the person out of the car and emergency crews took the individual to the hospital.
“Had the homeowner not seen the victim in the water or seen the crash, most likely this whole thing could’ve had a whole different ending,” said Chief of the Selkirk Fire Department Bill Asprion.
The victim’s condition is unknown at this point and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
