Niskayuna students get their hands dirty on Earth Day

High school students in Niskayuna got a valuable lesson this Earth Day. Students spent the day in the Alplaus Kill natural area in Glenville planting wildlife shrubs.

Their environmental science teacher, Paul Scott says this is the first time they’ve planted shrubs at this spot.

“This is something that we’ll continue every year from here on out or so from here on out,” Scott said. “I’m going to document it with pictures on a regular basis to see what kind of changes we see over the rest of my professional career anyway.

Students spent months preparing for this day in the classroom – and on Friday they finally got their hands dirty.
