HUDSON, NY (NEWS10) – On Thursday, April 14, the Hudson City Police Department arrested 22-year-old Christian Cousin of Hudson for Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C felony.
Hudson Police along with the Greenport Rescue Squad reported to the back parking lot of the Columbia County Department of Social Services building for a male that was allegedly assaulted and injured. Hudson Police Patrol Units and Detective Units responded to investigate.
Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Cousin allegedly lured a 24-year-old male from Hudson behind Oakdale Lake in the wooded area to rob him. Once hidden by the woods, Cousin began to assault the victim.
During the attack, Cousin allegedly reached into the victim’s pocket and stole at least $530 in cash. A witness, who heard the calls for help, was able to yell at Cousin to stop and cousin then fled the scene.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Columbia Memorial Hospital for emergency medical treatment for facial injuries. He was released the same day.
Cousin and the victim did know each other.
Cousin was arraigned and jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash/ $10,000 bond.
He is scheduled to return to Hudson City Court on Tuesday, April 26.
