NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two important things for voters to know Tuesday are that polls do not open until noon and you must be enrolled in either the republican or democratic party to vote in the primary.
POLLING HOURS: In New York City and the counties of Erie, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Orange, Rockland and Putnam, POLLS OPEN at 6 AM and CLOSE at 9 PM. In all other counties POLLS OPEN at 12 NOON and CLOSE at 9 PM.
Folks need to make sure to check on that before they head to the polls and find that they can’t vote.
NEWS10 sat down with the Republican and Democratic commissioners at the Schenectady county board of elections and they told her they are anticipating a large turnout for this primary.

Donald Trump holds a commanding lead in his home state of New York.
According to recent poll from Emerson College he is leading Kasich and Cruz with 55%.It will be an uphill battle at for Senator Ted Cruz who was in the Capital Region last week. He is in third and has already put his focus on California in case he can’t collect enough delegates in New York.
As for the democrats, Bernie Sanders is betting big on Brooklyn and beyond, hoping for an upset Tuesday night.
According to that same Emerson poll, former New York Senator Hillary Clinton has a double digit lead over the Vermont senator.
