STILLWATER, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say two young women were arrested after they allegedly stole from Spencer’s and one hit an employee with a stun gun.
“Certainly, I’ve never seen a stun gun used,” Lt. Jeff Brown with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said. “That was very unusual.”
“[Miller] ended up walking out with her friend who hadn’t returned her item, and that’s when the stun gun incident occurred,” he continued. “They both fled together after getting in their car.”
Police said the employee is fine and declined medical treatment. Authorities said Miller turned herself in while Gardiner kept driving until she was stopped by police.
Once inside, Gardiner allegedly became combative with officers and made verbal threats towards Miller, which added charges onto her case.
“She got in a confrontation with her and started threatening her, which resulted in another charge of Harassment,” Lt. Brown said. “Yelling and screaming, trying to interfere with the investigators conducting their interviews and investigation, which resulted in the additional charge of obstruction.”
Gardiner was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Petit Larceny, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage by a person under 21, Harassment in the Second Degree, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. She was arraigned in Wilton Town Court and held on bail to reappear at a later date.
Miller was charged with Petit Larceny and released on an appearance ticket to return to Wilton Court at a later date.
