BOSTON (NEWS10) – A Rhode Island man crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, only to quickly start on a new chapter in life.
Bronson Venable ran to the 26 mile marker, just before the finish line, where he dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. She of course, said yes. Spectators captured the special moment on a cell phone video.
Venable admits he was a little unsteady while popping the question, although he’s unsure if it was from the race or just nerves.
“I had a spiel that I was going to say but it went out of my head as soon as I went down on one knee and I asked her if she would marry me and obviously she said yes. Same thing, was a little shaky when I was putting the ring on and I don’t remember kissing her. And after the race I was like did I even kiss her? I don’t even remember!”
Venable is no stranger to running. He was once a high school cross country champion. After the happy moment, Venable went on to cross the finish line, coming 122nd overall in two hours, 39 minutes and 19 seconds.
