Attorney General’s office joins forces with Albany PD for gun buyback program

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Saturday, the Attorney General’s office teamed up with Albany Police to get guns off the streets.

In an effort to reduce gun violence, they hosted a community gun buyback program in front of the Public Safety Department on Henry Johnson Blvd.

“Guns can fall into the hands of children or others that aren’t permitted to own guns, so it really is a public safety concern, and we provide a safe and legal means of disposing of these guns,” said Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs Jihoon Kim.

In exchange for turning in a gun, people were given a gift card that ranged from $25 to $175 depending on the type of gun they handed over.
