WINDHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Five years ago when she was just 9-years-old, Olivia Pedrick decided to paint some pictures of animals and sell them at a local fair and donate the money to a friend’s shelter.
“I thought it was a good idea. I made a few. I made about $100, which was a huge deal for me,” said Olivia Pedrick.
“She loved it. She loved doing it and it just took off from there. I was excited,” said Anabel Pedrick, Olvia’s mom.
Then ‘Olivia’s art for animals’ was born. Olivia, now 14, is running a Facebook page and receiving upwards of 20 requests a month.
“We’ll put it on the list and we’ll tell them we’ll get to them as soon as we can,” said Olivia.
Send our Capital Hero a picture of your pet and she’ll turn it into a painting. All proceeds will benefit the charity of your choice.
“I wanted to do smaller shelters and smaller places because they don’t get as much money as places like the ASPCA.”
Over the past five years Olivia has raised over $20,000, benefitting dozens of charities around the state and the country.
