COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say they’ve arrested a man accused of being in possession of an illegal loaded handgun, over $3,000 and some marijuana.
Police say 33-year-old Tyreem Murphy of Troy was stopped on Central Avenue and Fuller Terrace for a traffic violation. The driver, Murphy was discovered to have felony drug warrants issued in Troy and was taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed a Walther 9mm semi-automatic handgun which was loaded with 12 rounds under the front driver’s seat, approximately $3,740 and a small amount of marijuana.
The driver was arraigned overnight in Colonie Justice Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility, without bail. He’s expected in court on a later date.
He’s been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and 3rd, felonies, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Failure to use Turn Signal
