Death of dog found with beaver trap on its head has been ruled accidental

CHESTERTOWN, NY (NEWS10) – State Police in Chestertown investigated the death of a dog that was found with a beaver trap attached to its head. The White Husky named Bear was found along Landon Hill Rd. in the town of Chester on March 26.

The investigation has revealed that a local farmer had set the trap in front of his chicken coop in an attempt to stop recent attacks to the livestock on his property by an unknown predator.

It seems the dog got caught in the trap and ran a short distance to the area it was later found.

The incident was determined to be accidental and no criminal action is being taken against farmer.
