AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – An Amsterdam woman has died after suffering an alleged beating at the hands of her boyfriend.
Amsterdam police were called to the intersection of Garden Street and Union Street for a report of a disturbance in the early morning of March 29. Upon arrival, police found a 30-year-old female with severe head injuries. Police are identifying the woman as Beth Ann Logan of Garden St.
Logan was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital before being transferred to Albany Medical Center due to the severity of her injuries. Police said she underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition.
Beth Logan passed away at the hospital on Monday, according to police.
Logan was injured in the presence of her young children, according to police. Her children were unharmed during the incident. They are currently in the care of Child Protective Services.
Police identified the suspect as Logan’s boyfriend, 39-year-old Michael Donyell Norwood, of Schenectady. He allegedly fled the scene prior to police arrival. He turned himself into authorities on Friday.
Charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree have been filed in Amsterdam City Court against Norwood. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in Amsterdam City Court.
