NYCLU: Albany PD needs changes after Ivy death

NEW YORK (NEWS10) – The New York Civil Liberties Union is speaking out about the police involved death of an Albany man.

In a letter sent to Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Albany Police Chief Brendan Cox, the NYCLU said the initial police stop and search of Dontay Ivy was unconstitutional. They demand changes in the police department.

Ivy died after an April 2 Tasing by Albany police. His death sparked protests and an investigation by the Albany County District Attorney.

The officers involved were not indicted.
