TROY, NY (NEWS10) – A self-proclaimed police watchdog and his girlfriend are facing sex abuse charges after a 15-year old girl said they both tried to have their way with her during a visit to Rupeka’s Lansingburgh home.
Could the pair have skipped town to avoid charges?
Adam Rupeka has insisted that his work exposing bad cops has made him a target by law enforcement. However, could fear and new charges have him running from the law as a post by his girlfriend and fellow defendant suggests?
Troy Police said the unidentified 15-year-old is well-known to Adam Rupeka. They said the alleged crime happened early Saturday morning during one of her regular visits to Rupeka’s Lansingburgh home.
Court documents allege that Rupeka had the girl in his bed with him and his 26-year-old girlfriend Jennifer Ogburn.
It was there, the victim told investigators, that Rupeka and Ogburn rubbed and touched her body in a sexual manner.
The notorious self-proclaimed police watchdog, Rupeka is best known for his arrests, when he crashed a drone into the Capitol and during a videotaped confrontation with a Saratoga Springs Police Officer.
Rupeka was pepper sprayed but had the last laugh when he was awarded a $50,000 settlement with the city and the officer resigned.
Rupeka’s girlfriend posted a message on News10ABC’s Facebook page that said she and Adam did nothing wrong and insists that their accuser is lying.
Also some interest to police, a message posted by Ogburn that said the pair is now in Canada and they are never coming home.
Rupeka is scheduled in court this Friday. Troy Police said they do not know if the pair has skipped town, but are looking into it.
News10 did call the Family Dollar in Troy where he works to see if he might be there and they said he was let go yesterday.
