Local Black Lives Matter group supports students charged in CDTA incident

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – For the first time, Black Lives Matter is reacting to the Albany CDTA bus incident involving UAlbany students.

The Upstate New York chapter took to Facebook on Thursday to say they support the three women. Asha Burwell, Ariel Agudio and Alexis Briggs claimed they were assaulted in a racial attack on the bus on January 30.

Police have said, however, the three young women were the aggressors and charged them with assault. Burwell and Agudio were also charged with falsely reporting an incident.

The group said Burwell, Agudio and Briggs are being unfairly prosecuted by the school and Albany County District Attorney David Soares.
