Police divers find car that crashed into upper Hudson River

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) — Police divers have recovered a car that was driven into the upper Hudson River by a man who was later charged with driving while intoxicated.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports divers from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office recovered the car Sunday, two weeks after it crashed into the river after the driver missed a turn in the town of Queensbury.

The sheriff’s office was asked by the state Department of Environmental Conservation to assist in the search for the car. Divers found the vehicle about 50 feet from shore in 30 feet of water near the bridge that carries the Adirondack Northway over the river.

The 25-year-old Hudson Falls man who was driving the car got out of the water unhurt.

DEC officials say no fuel or other liquids leaked into the river.
