ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a 20-year-old was arrested and accused of breaking into the Bath and Body Works inside the Rotterdam Mall and stealing nearly $2,000 worth of merchandise.
The Rotterdam Police Department says they responded to Bath and Body Works at the ViaPort Rotterdam Mall to investigate a burglary on March 13. Mall security says they notices a storage room door in Bath and Body Works was kicked in.
Mall security notified Bath and Body Works management who confirmed that several items were missing. They say in total $1,800 worth of candles and various soaps were stolen.
When officials checked out the security camera footage it showed two possible suspects in the storage room on March 12 at about 10:30 at night.
Rotterdam detectives identified one of the individuals as 20-year-old Tyler Hess of Rotterdam. The other is still on the loose.
Hess was charged with Burglary in the third degree, Grand Larceny in the fourth and Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief. Police say Hess was arraigned and remanded to the custody of the Schenectady County Jail in lieu of 5,000.00 cash bail.
Police say additional arrests are pending.
