ATHENS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say they’ve arrested a known and wanted drug dealer out of Greene County.
Authorities say on March 16 New York State Police arrested 36-year-old Ian Smith of Hudson on several charges.
State Police along with the City of Hudson Police Department and The Greene County Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Smith who was wanted on several warrants. Smith had been sentenced in absentia to four years in State Prison on January 5, 2016 and has been in hiding since.
Information was developed by investigators that Smith was staying at the Pine View Garden Apartments in the Town of Athens.
Troopers arrested Smith at that location where he was found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs. Smith was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.
Smith was arraigned in the Town of Athens Court and was committed to the Greene County Jail with no bail.
