SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A hard-fought comeback for the great Danes had fans from the Capital Region on Cloud Nine.
One current UAlbany student said even though the Danes were trailing, he never had any doubts.
“Man, I lost my voice screaming so loud. That game was awesome. It was one of the best games I’ve seen in my life, “said UAlbany student Michael Parker.
Michael Parker said there was a tense feeling inside the Carrier Dome because the Great Danes were trailing for most of the game until the tables turned in the fourth quarter and UAlbany was able to clinch the win.
The Great Danes fan base was happy to celebrate this history making win but said they aren’t satisfied with just one. Now they’re licking their chops waiting for their next opponent.
“We didn’t just beat Florida, we had to beat the refs, which was ridiculous. It came down to crunch time, Imani was great and she owned the game. Heather Forester came big, and Erica had the game of her life. We just pushed through and got the w and we’ll be back here Sunday. We back on Sunday,” said Parker.
As they were getting back on the bus, some fans were already making plans to come back for the Danes next game on Sunday. That won’t be decided until some other games are played but the fans from the Capital Region have UAlbany going all the way to the championship.
