SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Busloads of UAlbany fans loaded up early Friday morning and made the two and a half hour trip to Syracuse to support the women’s basketball team in their first round game against the Florida Gators.
The group that is representing the capital region includes current students, alumni, and fans related to alumni of UAlbany.
Fans said this season has been outstanding but they don’t believe that it will stop here. News10 asked some people how they think Friday’s game will turnout and the responses were UAlbany all the way.
“Albany all the way. Go Danes,” said a UAlbany fan.
“I expect the intensity of our women to hold their own against the Gators. Our coach is well-respected throughout the coaching community. I think we are going to fight with tenacity and I think we have a pretty good chance today,” said UAlbany fan.
The game tipped off at noon, and the Great Danes beat the Gators 61-59.
