Troy officer injured during apprehension of parole absconder

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A parole violator is in police custody after a foot chase.

Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Troy police attempted to arrest a parole absconder in the area of 2nd Street and Madison Street. The absconder, Emmanuel Rivera, fled on foot, police said.

Police said an officer sustained a shoulder injury that required hospitalization during the capture. The officer was released but cannot return to duty for a while, police said.

Rivera was caught and sent to Rensselaer County Jail on the parole violation. He is facing additional charges stemming for the incident as well as charges from an incident involving a parole officer earlier in the week, according to police.
