Former Albany Co. legislator sentenced for check fraud

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A former local lawmaker will spend six months in jail for forging two checks.

Brian Scavo, 62, was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation on two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree.

On April 10, 2014, Scavo entered a Kinderhook Bank on Delaware Avenue in the Town of Bethlehem. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Scavo was in possession of two forged checks with the intent to defraud the bank in the amounts of $2,500 and $2,950.
