(NEWS10) – On Wednesday, March 9, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old Troy Barnes of Rutland Vermont.
Barnes was arrested on an indictment from Rensselaer County that charged him with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell, as well as vehicle and traffic offenses.
On July 1 2015, Barnes was stopped at 5:30 a.m. on Rt. 7 in the Town of Pittstown for violations of the vehicle and traffic law. Barnes was arrested for AUO 3rd degree and speeding.
While he was interviewed at the Public Safety Building, Barnes handed over 50 grams of Heroin to investigators. Barnes said he was transporting the Heroin to Rutland Vermont to sell.
Barnes was indicted in December on the charges.
Barnes was found in a correctional facility in New Hampshire where he was being housed on Federal trafficking charges from Vermont. Barnes was taken to Rensselaer County and arrested.
Barnes was arraigned in Rensselaer County Court on Thursday.
The Watervliet Police Department and the DEA of Albany office assisted in the investigation.
