Arrest made after armed robbery of Troy liquor store

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – An Albany man was arrested for allegedly robbing a longtime Troy liquor store at gunpoint.

DeMeo’s Wine and Liquor Store was held up at gunpoint on February 27 at closing time. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video installed at DeMeo’s, and the Troy Police Department received a tip from an Albany parole officer as to the possible identity of the suspect.

Through an investigation it was determined that 35-year-old Anton Gumbs committed the armed robbery. Gumbs was arrested on Wednesday in Albany and taken to the Troy Police Department for questioning. He was also questioned by Albany detectives.

Gumbs is now in the Troy Police lockup awaiting arraignment Thursday morning.

He was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Menacing in the Second Degree.
