ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – An Averill Park woman pleaded guilty to fraud charges on Monday in Albany County Court.
Marcia Doyle Stallmer pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Tax Fraud and one count of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree, both felonies.
According to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, Doyle Stallmer schemed to defraud several people in both Albany County and Rensselaer County between June 2008 and December 2012.
Doyle Stallmer would obtain money from people under fraudulent pretenses and often asked for short term “loans” in connection with real estate transactions that did not exist. She laundered around $1 million, officials said.
She also falsely omitted the income she received from the schemes, according to the DA. As a result, Doyle Stallmer was accused of underpaying the Department of Taxation and Finance for personal income tax liability for each year during the time period she conducted the fraud.
She faces up to three years in state prison when sentenced on May 4.
