COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can give you hope.

The fundraiser held for Noah Roman on Tuesday night raised more than $5,700. The teen lost his family in a tragic murder-suicide last month.

The money was raised at several TCBY and Five Guys locations across the Capital Region. In total, $5,749 was raised.

“It just shows there are people out there that truly care about the situation and you don’t realize how many people are affected by it and do care and nights like this people are going to come out and show their support and hopefully Noah sees that,” said a manager at TCBY.

Noah is now living with his grandmother. We’re told the money will go into a trust fund that Noah’s family has set up for him.

Organizers and the community in general say they don’t know him personally, but felt the need to help.
