SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The 11th Annual Downtown Schenectady Restaurant Week is underway.
Participating restaurants are offering three-course meals for $25.
There are 25 restaurants participating this year and many are along State and Jay Street, but there are others outside downtown.
The list has more than doubled over the years, with some over on Union and even in Scotia. Jim Salengo is the executive director of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation. He says they’ve paired with the Capital Region chamber on the event, bringing in places in the county.
He says the hopes are when people come visit the restaurants; they’ll try out what else Schenectady has to offer.
“There’s lots of great places to shop, lots of great entertainment of course we’ve got Proctors, we’ve got the Movie Land Theater, we’ve got Schenectady Light Opera Company, we’ve got Schenectady Civic Players,” said Salengo.
Salengo says it’s walkable, there’s access to transportation and that the nationwide trend of urban living is happening there. That’s what Schenectady is quickly becoming and in downtown you’ll see a lot of people choosing to move and there is a lot of new residential options on the horizon.
As you try out the restaurant options this week, ask for a survey cards after your meal. They’ll enter you in drawings to win gift certificates to return.
