First responders to be honored for bravery and success in saving family from McKownville fire

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A ceremony this week will recognize the first responders who were called to the fire on Ayre Drive in McKownville last month.

The fire started around 3:30 in the morning on January 24. The home was destroyed.

Neighbors called 911 after seeing the flames through their windows. Firefighters rescued all five people inside, as well as the family’s dog.

The town of Guilderland is holding a ceremony this Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the Town Hall board room to honor those first responders and their life-saving, heroic efforts.
