Man charged with DWI after allegedly crashing vehicle into a marked Albany Police patrol car

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – 33-year-old John Raby has been charged with DWI after he crashed into a marked Albany Police vehicle on Broadway.

On Saturday, at around 11:30 p.m., an Albany police officer was going northbound on Broadway in a marked patrol car when another vehicle pulled out of Thatcher Street and struck his patrol car.

The officer sustained minor injuries during the crash and was taken to Albany Med for further evaluation.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Raby showed several signs that he was driving his car under the influence of alcohol and was then taken into custody at the scene.
Raby has been charged with DWI. He was also cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Raby is scheduled to be arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court.
