ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Westmere and McKownville fire departments are hosting a breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Morrissey-Sawyer family who lost their Ayre Dr. home in a fire just last month.
It is a busy Sunday morning at the Westmere fire department, with several volunteers cooking up some food to help raise money for the Morrissey-Sawyer family who lost their home to a big fire.
The fire took place at the end of January where a family of five saw their home taken away by flames.
Two young boys were brought to the hospital.
It was a fire that took about four hours to put out and luckily, neighbors were able to call 911 before any lives were taken.
Shortly after the fire, the McKownville fire department took in clothing donations for the victims and today’s breakfast fundraiser is just more help being offered to the family.
The fundraiser goes on until noon.
It’s $8 for adults and $5 for children five and over.
