Celebrating video game touchdown, teen shoots friend

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 15-year-old whipped out a gun and accidentally shot a friend in the face as he celebrated a video game touchdown.

According to the Daily News of New York, the shooter and the victim were playing Madden NFL in Brooklyn on Thursday night. The 15-year-old was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the newspaper (http://nydn.us/1V9Il3T ). He told police it was an accident. Authorities were probing where he got the handgun.

The victim, 16-year-old Denzel Nash was rushed to a hospital where he died.

A teacher at the boy’s high school is helping the family to raise funds for his funeral. She started a “gofundme” website for them that has raised more than $1,200 so far, according to the paper.
