Firefighters put out blaze at Hoags Corners, cause under investigation

EAST NASSAU, NY (NEWS10) – Firefighters responded to a fire at Hoags Corner in East Nassau Sunday afternoon.

They said the fire only caused damage to one room but there was extensive smoke damage to the whole house.

Crews were able to put out the fire in only about ten minutes after arriving. However, they couldn’t say what the cause of the fire was.

News10 crews asked Fire Chief Will Hempel if he thought the fire was suspicious and he said “At this time no. Investigators are doing their job”.

Fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire and they haven’t said whether or not the fire is being considered suspicious.
