COLONIE, NY (NEWS10) – Around 3:15 Friday morning, Colonie Police saw and checked on suspicious activity in the lot of the Motel 6 on 1600 Central Ave.
The investigation led to two arrests and the recovery of 21.4 grams of Crystal Meth and 12.3 pounds of Marijuana along with $7,482.
Police saw a vehicle in the parking lot that was running and had its lights on for about two hours.
When police checked on the occupant of the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle was detected. While investigating the occupant of the vehicle, a second person was interviewed in a nearby hotel room and a strong odor of Marijuana was smelled coming from the room.
Search warrants were executed on the motel room and the two vehicles belonging to the defendants. The drugs and money were found during the execution of the search warrants.
Both 25-year-old John Gilligan and 26-year-old Tyler Callon were both charged with Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance in the third and Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the first, both classified as felonies.
Gilligan and Callon were both arraigned in Colonie Justice Court this afternoon and remanded to the Albany County Jail, Gilligan without bail and Callon in lieu of $35,000.
They will both be in court again on Monday February 8 in Colonie Justice Court for a preliminary hearing.
