Glenville man arrested, charged after rape allegations from 2011

GLENVILLE, NY (NEWS10) – 48-year-old Larry Atkins of Glenville has been arrested after an alleged rape investigation that occurred in June 2011.

Atkins was charged with one count of Rape in the 1st Degree, one count of Rape in the 3rd Degree, one count of Criminal Sex Act in the 1st Degree, and once count of Criminal sex Act in the 3rd Degree.

Atkins is accused of picking up a 21-year-old female as she was walking south on Rt.50 in the area of Ballston Spa on June 16, 2011.

The female was highly intoxicated at the time after she attended a concert at SPAC. It is alleged that Atkins drover the girl to Price Chopper in Glenville where he sexually abused her.

The female reported the incident to police after getting treatment at Ellis hospital.

Atkins was arrested after a positive DNA test was confirmed late last year. Atkins was arraigned in Schenectady County Court and remanded to Schenectady county Jail without bail.
