TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Thursday the mayor of Troy will lay out plans for the Collar City during his State of the City Address.
It’s Patrick Madden’s first since taking office and he has some daunting tasks in front of him.
Based on two of the big issues he’s already been faced with in his short time in office, infrastructure and finances are expected to be at the top of his agenda.
After that massive water main broke less than a month into his first term, he has reiterated that he’s determined to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. He says both businesses and homeowners look at the reliability of infrastructure when making a decision to locate or expand in a particular community and he does not want that to turn people away from his city.
The city of Troy still has not put an exact number on the cost to repair that one main, but Madden says they’re in the process of applying for any state and federal money available.
Its money the collar city just doesn’t have. In fact, according to a report from an investor service released just eight days into his term, Troy is in some financial trouble.
