QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a teen is accused of leading a police chase, hitting a house, a tree, and then fleeing on foot to call a cab.
According to authorities, on January 30 State Police in Queensbury arrested 19-year-old Tyrone Wood of Salem after he failed to pull over for police.
A Trooper says he observed Wood driving southbound on I-87 in the town Queensbury at speeds over 100 mph. When the Trooper attempted to pull him over, Wood fled.
Police say Wood exited I-87 at exit 18, and fled west on Corinth Road before turning onto Indiana Ave and continuing into Homestead Trailer Park. Wood lost control of his vehicle which resulted in him striking a tree and a house.
The home suffered minor damage, but no one was injured. Wood fled the accident scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later after calling for a cab.
Police say Wood was charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment and misdemeanor counts of Unlawfully Fleeing from Police, Assult in the third degree and Criminal Mischief. The assault charge stemmed from minor injuries suffered by a passenger in his vehicle at the time of the collision.
