ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The father of Kenneth White has not, yet, decided if he wants to keep his parental rights to his two daughters.
Kenneth was killed in December 2014 by his cousin. His two surviving sisters were then placed in foster care.
His father, Jayson White, appeared in Albany County Family Court on Thursday. He was expected to waive his parental rights, but instead, he chose to keep them and wait until another hearing.
The judge also acknowledged two, unrelated neglect complaints against White. He was ordered to stay away from four children he lived with in a Montgomery County house.
On Tuesday, the judge gave the children’s mother six months to prove she is a fit mother. If she meets the provisions, the judge could change custody from the girls’ great aunt to their mother.
