Albany man pleads guilty to Illegal Possession of a Weapon

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – 25-year-old Raja Johnson of Albany has pled guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, which is a Class C Armed Violent Felony.

On October 22, 2015, Johnson fled on foot from Albany Police following a traffic stop in the area of Park Ave.

While trying to flee on foot, Johnson tried to get rid of a loaded handgun that he was possessing. Johnson knew he was in possession of an illegal handgun after being convicted of one previous felony and five misdemeanors.

Johnson will face up to 10 years in State Prison followed by five years Post-Release Supervision when he is sentenced March 3.
